Is there an entry fee?
Normal weekly music night’s entry free! However so you can show your appreciation we take around the bar our "Tips for the band" Jug. If we put any event on that is ticketed this will be clearly displayed a month before in the bar. NYE tickets always go on sale on the First Sunday of December each year.
How old do I have to be?
We will only accept a UK photo card driving licence, passport, or PASS identification card bearing the PASS hologram. In conjunction with local authority guidance, we operate an ID seizure policy whereby any false ID will be confiscated and handed over to the police. For more information on The National Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) please visit their website at www.pass-scheme.org.uk.We ID at the bar as well as at the door so please don’t take offence if you are asked several times.
Will I be refused entry?
The bar's management reserves the right to refuse admission. If you’re old enough, look the part and act the right way then you’ll be welcomed to the bar. The Beer Engine encourages people drink responsibly, so we reserve the right to refuse admission or service to customers who are, or appear to be, intoxicated. We operate a zero tolerance policy on drugs and anyone suspected of taking or dealing in drugs will be searched and ejected from the bar. In instances where drugs are found customers will be detained and the matter will be reported to the police.
Are Children welcome?
Yes every day until 9pm (manager discretion at other times) but please note we stop admitting entry to those under 18 at 7.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays. If you wish to bring under 18s in the bar for events outside of the above times, please speak to one of the bar staff in advance.
Are Dogs allowed?
We absolutely love our furry friends at The Beer Engine so please bring them along, we have water bowls & biscuits available. Please be respectful of others who may not share our love of dogs and may bite. It does get a bit loud and busy for dogs on Music nights so please keep in mind that there may be points when we stop letting dogs in because of how busy it is for their own safety.
Do you have a dress code?
Smart casual Jeans and trainers are fine, Vests, sleeveless shirts are not!
Do you cater for Stag or Hen parties?
Unfortunately, we don’t feel our venue caters for the specific needs of a Stag or Hen party. You are more than welcome to come in but please do not put on any extra shows on!

I’ve lost something at the bar, can you help?
Oh no, we hope we can help find it! Just send us an email with a really good description and we’ll see if it’s turned up. Any lost property we have for two weeks or longer will be donated to charity as unfortunately we do not have the capacity for storage.
Can I privately hire a space in the bar or the whole bar?
We like to make sure that all areas of the pub are open to everyone! So, unfortunately we do not offer private hire of any spaces. This includes our rear area as it is our only heated outdoor location. We like to keep it open as a first come, first served basis for everyone to enjoy therefore we don’t reserve any tables out there.
The Beer Engine is closed all day every Monday however and if you wish to hire the bar for a event on a Monday let us know.
Parking
There is free (one hour) street parking immediately outside the pub & a Pay & Display car park at the rear of the pub. On Sundays the car park is free.

Well it got done in less than three days, so it obviously wasn't the Bars IT dept!.
